O governo da Malásia está submetendo ao Parlamento uma proposta de emenda na Constituição do país que proíbe homens de chamar suas mulheres de "feias".
A idéia do Ministério da Mulher, Família e Desenvolvimento é garantir a proteção das mulheres contra violência emocional - a Constituição do país prevê apenas a proteção contra violência física.
A diretora do Departamento para Desenvolvimento da Mulher do ministério, Datuk Noorul Ainur Mohd, afirmou o jornal malaio The Star, "a violência emocional é uma forma de abuso e que pode marcar as mulheres e diminuir a auto-estima, a dignidade e a confiança em si mesma".
